Ubiquiti Fiber POE Gen2 | Fiber / RJ-45 Converter, Outdoor PoE, 24/50V

End the 100-meter limit for Ethernet! The Ubiquiti FiberPoE Gen2 is your solution to connect and power PoE devices like IP Cameras or WiFi Access Points over kilometers of fiber optic cable. This outdoor media converter with PoE is the most robust method to expand your Network reliably and over long distances.

The device converts a pure light signal from a fiber optic cable (via SFP / SFP\+ Modules) into a Gigabit Ethernet signal and simultaneously injects passive 24V or 50V PoE into the Network cable. Thanks to the weatherproof polycarbonate housing and an extreme operating temperature range, the F-POE-G2 is designed for the most demanding outdoor installations.

Highlights

  • Unlimited Range: Bridge distances of several kilometers, far beyond the 100-meter limit of copper cables.
  • Maximum Interference Immunity: Fiber optics are immune to EMI/ESD and lightning strikes on the data line – for maximum reliability.
  • Integrated PoE Supply: Power your end devices directly at the installation site with passive 24V or 50V PoE.
  • Flexible Power Supply: Power the converter either via a DC terminal block or via a PoE Injectors / Power Supplies through the RJ45 port.
  • Robust Outdoor Design: Weatherproof housing with integrated surge protection for use in the harshest conditions.
  • Plug & Play: No software, no configuration. Simply connect and the connection is established.

Forget the 100-Meter Rule: Extend PoE over Fiber Optic Cabling

The biggest enemy when installing Network devices outdoors is distance. Conventional Ethernet Cables reach their physical limit at 100 meters. The FiberPoE Gen2 elegantly solves this problem: it converts the Network signal into light and sends it over fiber optics. This way, you can install PoE-enabled devices like IP Cameras or WiFi Access Points even hundreds of meters or kilometers away, without signal loss or additional WiFi Repeaters.

Built for Eternity: Maximum Interference Immunity Outdoors

Installations on masts, industrial facilities, or simply over long distances outdoors are susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electrostatic discharges (ESD), e.g., from nearby Lightning Protection. Since fiber optics consist of glass or plastic and do not conduct electrical signals, the FiberPoE Gen2 offers perfect galvanic isolation. The result: an absolutely interference-proof and reliable data connection, even in the harshest environments. The robust, weatherproof housing reliably protects the technology from wind and weather.

Flexible Power Supply for Every Scenario

The F-POE-G2 not only separates data and interference but also gives you full flexibility in Power Supply. You can power it either via a classic 2-wire terminal block with 24V or 50V DC or realize the Power Supply directly via an Ethernet Cable. For this, simply use the DC-In-RJ45 port in combination with suitable PoE Injectors / Power Supplies. At the other end, the converter then reliably outputs passive PoE to your end device – all cleanly separated and designed for maximum stability.

The Fiber Bridge: Two Devices for the Perfect Connection

You have two main scenarios: If you already own an Ethernet Switch with a free SFP slot, you only need one FiberPoE Gen2 at the remote end. However, if you want to 'bridge' an existing copper-to-copper connection over a long, interference-prone distance, simply use two F-POE-G2 devices – one at each end of the fiber optic link. All you need additionally are suitable 1 Gbps SFP / SFP\+ Modules. Make sure you choose the correct SFP / SFP\+ Modules – the port is designed for 1 Gbps SFP; 10 Gbps SFP+ Modules are not compatible.

Strengths & Notes at a Glance

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the Ubiquiti FiberPoE Gen2 primarily used for?

The FiberPoE Gen2 is used to extend a connection (data and power) to a PoE-enabled device, such as an or a , over a distance of more than 100 meters. It converts the signal to fiber optic to bridge long distances without interference.

Do I need one or two FiberPoE G2 devices?

That depends on the application. You need one device if you already have an with an port. You need two devices to bridge an existing copper connection over a long distance with fiber optic.

Which is compatible with the F-POE-G2?

You need a 1-Gbps . The choice between Single-Mode (SM) and Multi-Mode (MM) depends on your fiber optic and the distance. offers suitable like UF-SM-1G-S or UF-MM-1G.

Can the FiberPoE Gen2 power my device?

Yes, it provides passive PoE with 24V or 50V. It is crucial to ensure that your end device supports this passive standard, as it is not compatible with active PoE standards (802.3af/at/bt).

Do I need to configure the device?

No, the FiberPoE Gen2 is a pure hardware device without software or a configuration interface. Its functionality depends solely on correct physical and power supply.

Why should I use the FiberPoE G2 instead of a simple PoE extender?

The FiberPoE G2 utilizes fiber optic for virtually unlimited distances and provides complete immunity to electrical interference (EMI/ESD), making it superior for outdoor areas and long distances, whereas a PoE extender remains limited to 100-meter copper segments and is susceptible to interference. This is ideal for robust infrastructure.
